You say he is explaining rules. THink of them more as guidelines or aspirations. Something nice about life is that we often have the opportuinty to rectify something that maybe didn't go so smoothly in the past. But the point is that you cannot count on having that opportunity. Death comes quickly sometimes and paths diverge, never to meet again. So it is important that we act when we have the chance. It's not about karma but about doing the right thing because it is the right thing.
